@DathTanyion I don't know if you have ever developed a game, but you must realize that adding enough 'options' to please every player would basically make games so bloated and code heavy no one would probably make them anymore.
Can you even name one game that has enough 'options' to please every player, that not one player ever complained about not having this-or-that QoL or game play option to turn this thing on or this thing off? I seriously doubt you can, but if you can I will look into it from sheer curiosity.
Developers make the game they envision and players can enjoy that game within the parameters and with the mechanics the developers give them or they can mod the game to their liking.
And as to Valheim + there are just over 385K unique downloads, so in no way a majority based on sales, but a big number. Do people who have downloaded played the game through on vanilla once or more before they download it having experienced the game the developers made first? No way to tell. Do people who have downloaded it now refuse to play without it? No way to tell that either. But with no way to define what is fun for some and not for others the mod allows some people to play an altered game they like.
Ultimately games are like cars in that no one game or car will ever have all the options everyone might every want. You pick one you like and if later on you think it needs some changes you get it customized.
