On Plains and Mistland, you can die so easily even with the best armor.
Without it, you have better odds of dodging & escaping since you're faster. This very principle is also used by ace players in the Soulsbourne franchise.
Mistlands I can understand, but how do you die easily in plains if you're well equipped? I was just wondering earlier today, as a fuling was beating me in the back while I chopped down a rock finger that it seems like they nerfed the fuling. Maybe it's the ML armor, but the stats don't seem much better than padded.
With a decent run skill and rested buff, I don't know of anything that I can't outrun in heavy armor, except for wolves and deathsquitos. I do it all the time, and that's with all health foods.
Without rested buff it can be touch and go at times, but I can't remember a death that was due to not being fast enough. All of my recent deaths have been due to a missed block/parry against, say a starred seeker soldier, which would have been exacerbated if I had been in light armor and/or eating stamina food.
I understand some enjoy the light-style combat, which is fine, and I think stamina regen should be fixed to make it more of a viable play style, but I don't think there's any inherent advantage to it. On the contrary. I think that most of the complaints about stamina come from the desire to play a light style, but with the inherent disadvantage that the stamina regen formula imposes on that style.
