after you get a set of hide armor, head to the black forest, after you get a bronze set, head to the swamp, after you get a set of iron, head to the mountains, and after you get the silver set head to the plains, understanding the leveling system in this game isn't hard just don't try to force yourself into a place you really shouldn't be in especially early game.
