I don't even understand this. Just eat some food, drink a fire resist potion and go pick up your gear from your gravestone and run away. Come back when you're ready to try again. While I suppose you can play however you like, world and character back-up files are there to protect you from game-breaking issues that might arise...not for you to save-scum every encounter. This is not that game.
