Yeah, to be fair, a name like "friendly fire" would be more intuitive. Definitely recommend the butcher knife once you can afford to get it. Slaughters in 1 hit, doesn't require "PvP" to be on.

Also, once you get the harpoon you can turn on PvP to drag domesticated boars around, just be sure to feed them first so they can regen the lost health.

I also looked down and saw my knife skill was almost higher than any of my others - turns out the butcher knife and several dozen tamed boars, wolves and lox are an accelerated advancement program :-)
