It might be a stretch, but judging from the Ashlands dev blog post, where they show of the siege engine cart, may be used with a lox. I'm struggling to judge the size of it so it may be the size of a normal cart, and if so, is most definitely to small for a lox. However, whether or not it's intentional, the newest dev blog, "Tests Ahoy" does show the cabin of either a ship, or a wagon. And when you click on the post, the top picture shows a closeup of the cabin, with a lox in the background. Now my guess whether it's intentional or not, is that the lox will be able to pull the wagon, if it is a wagon. OR, you may be able to transport a lox with the new ship. Most likely to Ashlands so that you can use it to assist you in fortress sieges that the developers have mentioned. It would pull said siege engine, and hell, maybe you could equip it with other things too ?
Also, the more i think about it, the more a wagon would make sense. I mean, Ashlands is a pretty big biome, most likely covered with lava, and without water. So a ship, wouldn't really get you anywhere there, a wagon pulled by a lox however, would help you travel and explore the biome as it may be mostly land, potentially acting as a better cart - maybe equipped with a bed, storage and other things ? I'm using the current Ashlands terrain as a reference, and there does appear to be parts of the terrain split into small islands by water streams. Now i would imagine the terrain would be redone, like mistlands, and there instead might be lava streams blocking you off. But i don't know anything for certain.
In regards to the question, this is my assumption of what they might do with lox riding. War elephants were a thing in history and have been used in a few sieges(?), so perhaps loxes might fill this role in Ashlands ? To assist in logistics and sieges ? Otherwise if they're just to be ridden around in plains and any biome surrounding it, then it would be rather disappointing, and a missed opportunity.
