I recently took a very long boat voyage to the far extreme of the map to find final boss location, brought all my best gear, built a portal and started to build a base their. Then, I was attacked by a hunting party who I watched obliterate my portal after I was killed... I am fairly demoralized right now, as I don't think I can recover quickly enough to get minimally geared up, build another boat and get back to that location before stuff disappears. I almost thought that mobs would damage portals "a little" then stop, but this time that was not the case and is forcing me to reconsider risk in this game.
