There is a team working to take over the project, according to a GItHub posting. Unfortunately, that doesn't help people who have their servers set up by a hosting company and have no control over the base mod. BepInEx will allow you to bypass the need for Valheim Plus, but only if you have full control of your own server, and some knowledge of Linux, etc.
