The problem is, what is the alternative?
It has to be a minimum of two keys at once, because you have to choose a direction to dodge. So what should the second key be?
Something like F or E is no good because pressing D at the same time is not practical. The only keys which are suited to being pressed at the same time as WASD are SHIFT, CTRL and SPACE. All of which are already used. So sadly the game's solution may not be ideal but what is the alternative?
In Dark Souls games, you jump by clicking the left analogue stick, this is a horrible method.
Of all the buttons on a controller, that is the worst one to use for jump. However when you go to bindings options, to change it, you realise that there is no alternative. All other buttons are used, and more suited for something else. It is unfortunately both the worst and only option.
