for me personally the game is mostly solo experience. cuz i found that i can't really build stuff with others (i can't put design in their head, so 1 person will be building everything). and killing stuff is mostly easier alone too (you don't aggro more then you want and they have less hp so you can once-shot everything).
and i keep my interest by changing activities: sometimes i build. sometimes i explore. sometimes i grind resources(building stuff require A LOT of wood\stone). and sometimes i hunt bossess for fun (i even started a new world that had no access to eikthyr boss. which was also fun).
