Just a few non-specific un-targeted thoughts...
I have a lot of fun with Valheim overall. Has there been bugs, optimization issues & frustrations?
YES.
I always take early access for what it is - sometimes fun & sometimes frustrating. When i do use mods, I fully expect someday I could lose my world & even my character from some sort of game-breaking incompatibility.
I refrain from some early access titles if the track record of the devs is to abandon them. With Valheim it is a love hate thing....love the game, hate the prolonged 'roadmap', but this is what I signed up for when I bought in to EA.
I use to mod games way back in the day - it was fun and I use to love coding. Now I don't have the time. Modders do it for the challenge and community, not so much the money & accolades. Whenever I see game devs respecting the modding community I support that dev's current & future projects more seriously. It does mean a lot when devs even shoutout your mod....so yeah you like when people like what you do, but you usually don't mod somthing thinking "everybody will love me when I am done."
Certain games I have dumped a few thousand bucks into over a period of years, in return I hope the devs can complete & maintain the game as a service as long as possible. As for spending hundreds on a game, gaming is still less expensive than many other hobbies I like.
