I know that feeling. I'm trying to recover my stuff from the Plains across the map from my house (with no portals). I was exploring via sail and a mosquito instakilled me in my bote.

And my second attempt with a SECOND bote, now there are 5 or 6 mosquitos guarding my first death. I ate enough health food to survive the first sting, but not the next 4.
