You are quite wrong about arrows. The wooden arrow might have similar base damage to arrows with effects (poison arrow and fire arrow), however the damage goes up quite a lot. Whatever test he did is probably flawed. Remember the damage can vary and different enemies have different damage reduction. Test the arrows again shooting several arrows at the same target.
