I had a very similar experience when I was little. About 15ish years ago, i couldn't play any video games because they caused me to get nausea and migraines (I know, game quality has dramatically increased since then). I find that now if I play with a light on it helps. I've also been looking into a pair of "Blue Light Glasses" which is supposed to reduce eye strain on computer screens.
