There are deer sanctuaries in the US, yes (I've been to one), but anywhere where the wildlife in question is indigenous to the area, it's illegal to have them as pets.

So things like deer, raccoon, skunk, etc. are typically out of the question.

Makes you wonder why cats arent illegal then. Gotta love government. Always protecting you from you, but only when they're not extorting slave labor from you.
