Why bother? If you are in the plains you don't really need boar meat.

You could also argue, and be totally correct, why bother taming Lox? You can easily provide all the lox meat you need by just killing the many, many lox you will come across just roaming around the world.

I don't think ppl who keep boar pens keep them going because they need the meat, but it is an additional immersive aspect of Valheim.
