Boss fights can be a huge aggravation if there are active spawns nearby.
For golems, if you dig a pit and trick them into it, they will get stuck and sit there, and no replacement can spawn. For the others, you just have to kill them if they come by.
in any case, and for any boss, you need a safe place to heal up. Sometimes there is a natural one, usually you need to break out the hoe and craft one.
