Have you unlocked core wood? You can find it on (some) structures in the meadows pretty early, otherwise there is metric tons of it in your closest black forest. Sounds like you are at the early stages of building. Core wood is heaps stronger than regular wood when you need to do any kind of house framing with beams, you can build taller & wider than you can with regular wood, so probably worth mentioning, might help. (at least until you unlock buildable stone & Iron beams later on). Good luck with your build.
