Jaggid Edje replied to Is there any way to reduce smoke density? February 13, 2023 @ 9:06:11 am PST

I noticed in every thread where this comes up, there's always several answers of "you don't have to make a chimney" and then an explanation of how to do it without a chimney. I'm just curious, do people not like chimneys? Or is it just an attempt to be 'realistic' seeing as Viking houses, irl, usually had 'smoke holes' and not chimneys?

I usually make a chimney, or just include a smoke venting hole in the roof, not counting the first house I built which just filled up with smoke and made me react to 'how cool is this!' (that the game actually has smoke physics). I personally really like how the smoke venting out of the hole/chimney looks, like in that lovely screenshot @jonnin posted above.

This is how I have mostly been doing fireplace and chimney, for hearths; with a stone wall frame around 3 sides of it, until I reach the thatch roof, then all 4 sides to make a chimney. Then on the outside, I cover it with wood posts atop which I put a thatch roof.

Maybe someone know how to fix that by changing settings or using commands?
If after all of the above replies you still want to 'disable' the smoke, I'm not aware of any command in game for it, but there is a mod that removes the smoke effects that would be an option.
