It's not about Mistlands but P2P connection, that's what killed my server as well, couldn't play with friends a cross the world, the upload exceeds the limit for some people with low connection, that creates lag for everyone around.
Standing still and doing nothing was about 200kb/s of upload where 240kb/s is a round limit for most people on an old DSL connection.
