You know you only need one antler pick axe. You can repair it at a work bench (unlike the metal ones that require a forge). You can drop a work bench build walls on 3 sides and roof it and you can repair it on site while mining copper. You can mine out an entire deposit this way and then store the stone and copper ore in chests and make a couple trips with a cart. On your last trip you can dismantle the walls, roof, chests, and work bench.
