Doesn't always work, my entire city is covered by workbenches... there isn't a single spot that isn't covered, most places with it overlapping by about 1/3 the diameter of the benches. Also true for totems, then a ring around the town with just benches.

Still have randoms spawning in town, and in buildings. Kinda wonder if it's just too large of an area and some of the benches aren't being factored in until after the spawns or some other kind of weird bug.

I've got an entire island spawn-free (not a tiny one either, maybe 500m square or so), so area shouldn't be an issue, but if you're certain there is nowhere in your build that isn't covered by a spawn-blocking structure, then there might be something going on with the number of instances you have in your space.
