This sounds like an issue with your cooling system not the game. Highly suggest getting a can of air or a small vacuum/blower and clean out the dirt and dust. Check various other things too. Google will help with that. It is highly unlikely a game overheats a PC unless you are overclocking something, which I presume you are not doing.
Do not get me wrong go ahead and blame the game or the update which was forever ago. Keep in mind though if this game was causing such an issue the forum would be flooded with the same topic. I do really help the info helps as I have burned up my share of hardware.
