I haven't heard anything about more light armour sets.

You won't die in the swamps troll armour if you have even a tiny bit of skill, and it's going to protect you well enough that you won't usually be a one-shot in the mountains as long as you're upgrading it and using decent foods. I just went to the mountains with a character that has only troll armour to kill a few wolves. I went in without any warm clothing/mead so I was constantly ticking down health and managed to kill a few wolves each time I ran in. I was able to take one hit from wolves when I missed a parry and I didn't die. Wasn't using great food (mushroom, berry, cooked meat) and I don't have fully upgraded troll armour yet. You just have to be really careful if you choose to keep wearing it past the swamps, and upgrade it as much as you can. Higher tier shields are more important than bronze or iron armour for me since I can usually dodge, block, or parry my way out of most situations.
