Except there is, it just comes in a different form, and unless RNG favors you, you still have to work towards better gear until you get diamond, which is “progression”.

yeah you don't actually know what the word "progression" actually means.

there is NOTHING locking you behind progression walls in minecraft.

yes, you have to go and get those items like iron to get diamond, but you don't actually have to "unlock" anything.

progression in a game has to do with advancements, the only advancements in minecraft are when you actually find the new items, with valheim you literally cannot get iron without the swamp key.

the two games are not comparable.

the major difference being that valheim locks progression behind bosses, while minecrafts way of gaining new items is literally to just go and pick them up at any time whatsoever.
