My guess is you've put something in that has a lower comfort bonus than another one of its kind (i.e., a bed instead of a dragon bed). One of everything meaning one bed ( dragon bed) one of each rug etc. I would place something and if comfort didnt go up i would destroy it. Thank you for the link.
