NOTHING prevents raids from happening (vanilla game)... Every 40-something minutes, the game [silently] "rolls the dice" to see if a raid is triggered (or not), and no placed-items stop that from happening.

The further into the game progression, the player goes, and also killing certain enemies, adds harder and harder raids to the "pool" of possible raids (that the game rolls for every 40-some mins.)

This means you must prepare defenses (of some sort), to try to prevent the raids from destroying all your stuff.

This means Palisade fencing (worthless), spikes (almost worthless), or something more substantial such as earthen walls or trenches, or a combination of both

High up in the indestructible trees of the swamp or high up on rock pillars, etc (find places the enemies are likely not going to be able to reach you.
