Do you have mods installed? If so, remove them. Completely.
Solving edge case problems is hard enough without having to guess whether a third-party mod is part of the issue.

Actually, even if you don't have mods installed... do this:

• Uninstall Valheim.
  
• Delete the steamapps/common/Valheim folder from your Steam Library location (the default location is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\").
  
• Install Valheim.

This will clear any problematic settings/config files that may exist, as well as making sure you're not running any mods. Try playing again at this point, and see if the issue persists.

Note: your save files are stored elsewhere and will not be affected by the process outlined above.
