Is this supposed to happen? Because that feels like a glitch. But it also keeps happening.

Edit: while writing this, an enemy spawned beside me and started beaning me with rocks.

Indeed, I made a similar post.. they definetily did something to spawner elements and spawn rates in some update the past few months... cuz I tested this thoroughly, even with "KIllall" cheat, '22 enemies killed' and just a few seconds later, I re-type it and yet again 15-20 killed.. During the day, in meadows... It helps with resources gathering, but I remember it used to take like 1-2 in game days for deer outside my start base to respawn, but now they will respawn the same day.. It is like +100-200% respawn speed or smt, compared to when we played our 1st playthrough.
