I haven't joined a public session because I would be that guy, after 1500 hours and doing everything legit. To the point of beating every boss multiple times to farming the resources to build a base so big it drops every ones fps down to 10 fps. I have no interest in farming to build ever again, I will always be in debugmode to build now. The grind is not fun to me anymore but I still love to build.
If I did join a public session I would be going into it EXPECTING this to happen. I can build a giant castle in the time it takes my gf to build a small wood tavern. Guess what? We both still enjoy the game regardless of what we choose to do in it. She will get there with time, until then we are both enjoying the journey.
But it basically makes the whole point of the game pointless?
You can still play with other people without being exposed to cheating; you just need to find the right group who are also against it. Make a server together, password protect it, no problems. Any public server you find is going to be ruined.
Are passwords really required if you don't invite anybody else (and you trust all of your friends), and the server stay private?
If a server is public, can someone draw by chance the same exact seed for a private server (or a solo play), and actually enters an already populated world without being invited?
Any number of players can play the same seed, everyone gets their own world. That's why there are places where people post cool seeds that they've found. If you used the same seed I used and started a game there, you'd be alone.
