My 2c would be to keep it as much old-tech as possible, not grabbing that low fruit of advancing age and tech too much, and change into another game ventually. Keep it the atmosphere it started, but try to evolve new stuff in the same world (at least) for a while. Make it richer and better at what it already is. Go deep in viking culture and look for gems.

Personally, I'd like some QOL goodies, and more flexibility in UI.
