The Mistlands is meant to be a very challenging zone and a major step up from the Plains. The low visibility is obviously meant to be a part of that challenge.

I think trying to take the mist out of the MISTlands would be absurd, though a wouldn't be opposed to an item that you can craft after you kill The Queen that makes the mist more transparent or something.
