I lose about 1.5% of my skills every time I die. If I spent so many hours nonstop playing i would have the skills to not die as much, but the skill decay I feel lowers too much per death.

I just use a no death penalty mod. Solves that problem.
as far as I'm aware, not many skills maxed out are that great anyway. Except maybe the bow.
