I kind of agree with OP. If the game revolved around forming a long lasting relationship with your tame that you get more out of than fresh meat... than maybe. But it is a strange and cumbersome process for sure. My only hope is that they'll dedicate a development sprint or 2 on balance and polish for things like taming, gardening - gathering - harvest - cooking - crafting yield efficiencies when the right amount of grind has been put in.
