Food got a major update with Home & Hearth and then slightly re-balanced shortly afterwards when they realised it was skewed too far to the extremes. (Prior to H&H food just stacked and there was no differentiation between health/stamina.) As far as I am aware, it hasn't been touched since and I play almost daily.

You do have to be careful to balance out your foods depending on what you want to be doing in the game now. :)
