I usually build a quick wall around the door and drop a portal and chest there. The chest is for the iron and I use to portal to take everything else I pick up in the crypt back to a basecamp outsdie the swamp.

When I clear the crypt I use the Elkthyr and run the iron scap out of the swamp, use the portal to get back for the next load then break down the chest, portal, fence and workbench before heading to the next crypt. Repeat as many times as needed.

Ahh shame, would have loved to use iron as a decent building resource but not with how painfull it is to collect. But thanks for the tip
