Yeah, that is basically what I was trying to elude to. The Root Armor Set offers an alternative play style that fits me at this time. I don't have to worry so much about being poisoned or having to make poison resistance potions because the mask takes care of that really well. The chest armor makes getting shot by arrows way less of a concern as well. I would say the armor allows me to stay nimble, take on larger groups of mixed weapon enemies, and I can just focus on melting down iron to make the 4th level iron sword and buckler shield. Yeah, it's just my take on it so far. Definitely not a good armor for all occasions but I'm liking it. I've gone to the mountains to grab obsidian and I'm a pretty good shot with my current Huntsman's Bow, so I'm able to stay fairly safe up there by keeping my distance from anything that moves. But, once I kill Bonemass and the wolf packs start coming after me during a random raid, I'm not sure any armor is going be good against that. The wolves, when there are waves of them, give me the most problems in the game. The big goblin guys are pretty tough but manageable. The tar pit blobs are only a pain if I get tarred and I can't move. Everything is just a learned strategy. What to eat, what to wear, what to fight with, and whatever else - I'm just saying the Root Armor seems pretty nice at the moment. It could just be that I like it because I hadn't built it before and it's something new to try out. I even like fighting the Abominations, I think the devs did a good job with that additional monster in every way except for the way it walks away from you in some battle situations, I'm sure the AI pathing for it will get tweaked soon. Good times though, I like it. Off topic but I also built a stone base of operations under the Elder Alter as one of my main bases this go around and it's been super handy to live under so far. Root armor looks intriguing to me because of its resistance to pierce and poison, but even more because it doesn't slow you down as much as bronze armor.
