Early Access means the game aren't finished and there are the possibilities of bugs, glitches and, most important of them all, imbalances in everything.
Hope you've learned your lesson.
That isn't remotely close to what they said. Read it again. The map is enormous, you are not required to travel through mountains to get to anything.
