im a blunt - the iron mace is the best for blunt damage , both the porcupine and the frostner have less actual blunt damage , i stand in front of bonemass with it and just upswing away, stone golems get staggered by the upswing, i can take one down in 4 hits , uspwing then triple blow (left , right , then down) - in the swamp the downswing does a nice job on those spawns - the iron mace is a big difference to the bronze one
the mace is a bit slower than a sword so i pair it with a serpent shield which has a pierce resist bonus
i find in single player you need more than one option, i keep a sword and use it enough to get the skills up
i start early game with the wooden club because it kills skellies - porcupine is good on fulings , frostner stops wolves in their tracks ....no reason not to club things
