I think it's fine. I've never had an issue with it.

And yes, the developer does listen to feedback as can be see with what changes were made to terrain modification and enemy attacks on structures. Just because they didn't give you what you wanted is hardly evidence the developer doesn't listen to feedback.

You are already using a mod, so what's the problem? You are satisfied and so I am without the mod. As long as mod support continues, then I see no issue here.

I say, let the developers create their vision. They can't please everyone. That's why mod support is nice.
