From other players' experiences, Windows 11 was a culprit to Valheim crashing frequently. That is a secondary reason why I haven't updated my Windows 10.
Other things you can try:
- set draw distance/level of detail lower
- active light point shadows lower
- turn off SSAO, Bloom, soft particles
- play in Full Screen
- play with Vulkan enabled by adding this to the launch options: -force-vulkan
- set FPS limiter to 120 or lower
- check to see if it still crashes with a new world
As for manually saving, turn on console (F5) via adding -console to the launch options, then the save command to manually save. Might need to type: devcommands before you can use the manual save command.
