My main is in the meadows but plains would have been fine too except my wife and I have low level characters in with our high level characters. You can find nice large flat spots in the meadows and plains which is why I select them for main bases. Other biomes get a portal hub near resources that replenish and for a farming plot except for the swamp. I always build my swamp base on the edge of a swamp in a different biome.
