If you have all the iron you needed, you are missing something. I think my last home had like 500 iron bars in it for support beams alone, not counting the other stuff. Copper and tin to a lesser extent, and sliver to a lesser extent, but iron and dark iron and golem crystals and rocks/wood/tar should keep you busy for weeks unless you only build tiny shacks.
