Best advice ever! According to Steam I've clocked 1440 hours... That's less that 1.4 cents per hour for my $19.99 investment. Totally worth it for me!

On the one hand, the store page description says "A brutal exploration and survival game" ... but it's really not that "brutal." You cannot starve and basically the only threats are the ones you seek out. You could stay in the safer areas and build castles if that's your thing.

On the other hand, the Steam "tags" describe it as "Open World Survival Craft, Survival, Online Co-Op, Open World, Multiplayer, Building, Crafting, Exploration, Base Building, Co-op, Sandbox, Adventure, Mythology, RPG, Early Access, Action, Indie, PvP, Singleplayer" ... it DOESN'T say "brutal, punishing, souls-like" but later stages of the game can be hard and there are no difficulty settings.

Most of the "discussions" (and I use that term loosely) come from those two perspective and cry that the game is either "too easy" or "too hard" depending on your point of view. (I hope this thread doesn't turn into another one of those arguments, but I won't hold my breath.)

I'm in the "RPG, exploration" group and I think the game is a little harder than necessary in the later game since I don't have competition-grade gaming skills. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for it and I play half the game and after defeating the third boss, I just start a new game. Other times I've got the itch and slow and steady I go all the way to the current end.

Mistlands continues the trend. Probably a little harder than I'd like. Or, stated another way, would be "more fun" for me if it wasn't quite so hard. But I do find it manageable.

Back to the quote at the top - do your due diligence and then decide if the game fits your playstyle.
