I always use arrows to kill lox, aboms and trolls as it helps raise the skill but it shold have definelty died in that timespan. The only thing I can think is because you can't see its health it may be regenning. Not sure on that though.

That could be a possible explanation. Or, the lox doesn't take any damage at all when it is further away than a specific distance.
