You need to keep the rest buff active. Only takes 30 seconds to get the bonus applied again. Trying to cut wood or level ground doesn't work well without rested buff.

I say keep stamina as it is, it makes for more realism. you have to take your 10 minutes breaks and your 30 minute lunches.
