the fire staff is probably the best weapon in the entire game, I certainly would not call it pointless. Also the protection staff at high blood magic levels can almost make you invincible

Edit: grinding for eitr does not require world hopping at all, both sap and soft tissue are teleportable, so I’m confused by that last statement
