Basically what Mharr said, but more specifically, I quickly jumped out of my karve, swam a bit ashore, ran to the ruined tower to register the location of The Elder boss, then manoeuvred my way back to the shore, swam to my karve, and then while accelerating against the wind with my sails down (one chevron), the swarm of greydwarves with a 1 star greybrute gleefully chased after me. Sorry for the long sentence. I know, bad form. ^_^

Anyway, they managed to swim quite far out while throwing their stones at my boat, damaging it down to about 80%-ish health before I was able to get away. In reverse, if I was in the same place as those monsters with all that swimming and punching I would have done, I think I would have drowned by then. Mind you, my skills weren't topped out. I think my swimming skill was about 10. Not sure how much it makes a difference. Basically, I didn't see any of them drowning or taking damage, other than from the arrows of my bow.

I am legitimately curious as to the 'tone' (as in hint) of your question. Have you experienced swimming monsters taking damage suddenly without any visible cause like being attacked?

To be honest, I "know" that creatures which are not vikings have no stamina in Valheim. I "know" because living, breathing deer can and will swim amazing distances to get away from my viking or other natural enemies with no apparent ill effects.

On another level, I "know" creatures other than vikings do not use the stamina mechanic because if they did, the requisite computations would overwhelm my upper low-level (or lower mid-level) gaming laptop. I suspect I could not afford a computer capable of handling a large pack of greydwarves, or wolves, or fulings each with it's own stamina to keep updated.

I suppose the point is to be careful of what you ask for; you just might get it.
