Personally, I prefer fewer, larger updates for two reasons:
1. Fewer incremental updates over longer periods of time mean there's less propensity for my mods breaking due to multiple updates in a short period of time. I get to play my modded game for longer as a result before being made to wait for mod developers to update their mods to function with base game updates (if they do at all).
2. A longer window of time between updates give the devs more time to QA the next update so it releases in a relatively stable state, requiring fewer bug-fixes or balance changes. The updates we end up getting then end up being higher quality, as opposed to numerous smaller, buggier updates all the time. I'd rather wait for polished updates than get tons of jankier updates more frequently.

If you're hurting for new content, consider mods in the meantime (see point 1). There's some pretty impressive stuff out there that can quite significantly change your experience, if that's what you're looking for.
