With experience, it is possible to do scouting or special purpose forays into the next higher biome, it isn't a good idea on your first playthrough though. On the first time through you really want to 'conquer' each biome in order, kill the boss, get the widgets/pwers, and then move on to the next.

I mean yeah veterans who've mastered the game can do amazing things, I'm not there yet myself despite 1000+ hours of fun playing the game.
